"Books are the quietest and most constant of friends; they are the most
accessible and wisest of counselors, and the most patient of teachers."
Charles W. Eliot

About the Festival
The Canterbury Tales Literary Festival aims to promote the importance of literature and literacy to all. The annual festival is a community project that offers a host of opportunities for published and aspiring writers as well as readers to come together in their common appreciation for literature. Its aim is to not only provide access for established and aspiring writers to forge and strengthen a rich and multi-textured literary community, but also to promote literacy to a wide public audience.
This event has taken place every spring in Saint John for the past five years. This year, Canterbury Tales will be hosting “Lunch at the Library” to promote the festival. Our keynote speaker is Newfoundland writer Donna Morrissey, author of the award winning novel "Kits Law". Tom Crothers, whose novel "Sandfires" was nominated for the Govenor Generals Award, will host a writers workshop beforehand. Refreshments will be served.
